  Dr Chan,

My husband was diagnosis to have 'Manic' about four months ago. He takes the medicien 'Epilim' from 1000mg everyday to 700 mg recently. He has no symptom now but very tired. He is still in sick leave but has to go to work soon. He is worrying about whether he can cope with his work. Is it the side-effect from taking the drugs?

How long should he take the medicine? Is there minimum dosage for takeing 'Epilim'? He wants to reduce the dosage or even stop taking the medicine all the time. I feel tired too.

Thanks for answering!

With Best Wishes

Jonas

  Dear Dr. Chan,
I have seen psychologist for over 6 years and find hypnosis therapy quite useful to relieve pressure. My husband also has psychological problems due to high pressure in work and has seen a psychologist for a year but it seems the situation is not improving much. I am now looking for a psychologist who practice hypnosis to help him, would you please introduce me?? Thanks!

  Dear Dr. Chan,

Hope you are doing well. I would liek to seek your advice about my sister. I suspect that she has the problem of mysophobia. How can we define whether she is sick? She is around 45, married without children. Being a civil servant, she has a stable job and no need to work overtime. Her husband also makes a good living. Although I can't call him rich, he is in a living standard that he can afford a Posche four-wheel drive. So, my sister is supposed to have a lot of free time to do whatever she likes. On contrary, she is so busy everyday and works till late at home (say, 2pm at night). Her husband said she always has something to clean or wash. Her hands now got the so-called "housewife hand". This is the same even at weekends. She will not allow anyone to visit her home because she would need to clean the whole place all over after guests had left. As her brothers and sisters and mother, we visit her only once a year (at the Chinese New Year). She comes back to my mother's place once a week for dinner but she refuses to sit on our sofa. Other than that she seems fine in her daily life. Is she sick?? Does she needs to see a doctor? Would it take long to cure (she is like this for almost 20 years)?

I look forward to your kind advice.

Thank you and best regards,

Vicky
