I am a seventeen-year-old girl. Since five years ago I have had difficulty controling my emotions. Sometimes I find myself talkative. I like to spend money without thinking. However, most of the time I feel depressed. I want to cry and even try to commit suicide. Since I was promoted to S6, I have suffered from insomnia and headache more frequently. I find problem concentrating on my academic studies. Should I go to see the doctor?

My sister (aged 30+) had been your patient two years before. At that time you claim that her case was very serious but with your consultation, she got totally recovery be a friendly, lovely and concern guys
for almost a year.

But recently, on 5th-March onwards , her emotion getting worse and unstable. Besides, she claimed she does recall all her "bad" memory and experience.

From our sharing, we guess, the main clause "might be" - her anxious about losing her contract base job (job need to renew contract in May10')

Over the years, she seems not having problem handling her job or even got her boss applause always.

But recently, from her sharing, it seems she could not fall into sleep and always wake up in the mid-nit. She feels very disturbing. She couldn't concentrate at work and always careless. She seems very nervous her boss would quit her in May10'. Her boss always post "ad" to employ new staff.

Dr. Chan: Our problem is :- We don't know how to convenience her to consult you. We get a try, but she refused. Her temper is getting worst day-after-day. Before your consultation, she become a friendly and easy-going person, but now, vice versa - She always yell at parents, blame about her doom, suddenly burst into tears. Frankly, she change back to perivous situation. "Complaint always".

Dr. Chan: We know you could help her, but we can't convenience her to consult you at this moment. Before, could you please give us some advice what we need to do/ what we must not do? How to response? How serious her case.

Please do help! Thank you so much!!!

My mom (age 72) has been suffered from depression for more than 40 years. She sometimes went to see the doctor and took some mental pills. But she did not take it regularly. Sometimes, she said the wanted to commit suicide. Sometimes, she called me in the mid night and said she was unhappy. Recently, she could not remember things and emotional unstable. She took out cash from her bank a/c and gave to someone else. She felt happy about this. We wanted to take her to consult psychic doctor and she refused. She said she could get the pills from clinic. I am worry about her health and wealth. Should I call the police ? Or any doctor will come to my mom's home ? She sometimes close the door and refuse to see anyone.

Hello! I like reading your website. I would like to ask an interesting question: If a normal person takes schizophrenia drugs, what mental effect will happen? Will his/her IQ dropped? Thank you very much for reply.

Best Regards,

  Dear Dr. Chan,

My grandfa (nearly 80 years old) refused to eat and drink becase he think eat and drink is useless. He seems mentally normal as he could said the actual amount of water bill, electricity bill or rent. He ask my ma to prepare to carry on his duties as he said he will die shortly. In fact he is very unhappy because he lived in a very stressful environment for over 50 years. His wife (grandma) is a very selfish woman and his eldest son has very bad habit and always ask him for money.
He think he is normal and all he can do is waiting for die and so refused to eat and drink and go to hospital. I don't know whether he is mentally ill or not and I am worry about his health.
What could I do now?

Thanks for your reading!

iris_fan_fan@hotmail.com Hi

  Dear DR. Chan,

I had been your patient 2 years ago, you and Mrs. Chan usually called me Yuk Fan in the past.

Thank you for your usual support in the past. I am now working in a multi - national company. However, numerous office politics had push me in the corner.

One month ago, I received an offer from the World Vision which mainly working for an orphange in mainland - Qinghai. Because I am a Christian, i want to work sometihng for the society, I accept the offer.

But I did not consider is, i am not those guys who are very very strong, sometimes, i think i need to be more stable in my emotion. As a girl, did I consider my personal safety when only 1 guy in a foriegn territory ?

I lived in HK for over 20 years, I am now in my 26. Can I give up a place which have modern civilization? In Qinghai, no media, no shopping mall (not shopping with LV, but at least neccesscities like restaurants, boutiques ect). I really really feel very frighten on that kind of environment.

How about my friends? families ? Can I so willing to give up all thoses ?

Actually I made an appointment before, but I declined, I cannot explain my emotion.

If you were me, what will you do ?
